The Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra - know as the Sunrise Pops - is returning to its namesake city for the 2011-2012 season. Concerns will be played in the Piper High School auditorium, one of few local venues large enough to accommodate Pops fans.

"We are thriolled to have the Pops back home," said Sunrise Mayor Michael J. Ryan. "They are one of the City's cultural gems, and they belong here in Sunrise."

To show its appreciation for the group, the Sunrise City Commission is proclaiming Tuesday, August 9, as Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra Day. A quartet from the Pops will be on hand with a live season preview at the Commission meeting that evening.
